There are many different types of Aboriginal bush medicine in the Central Desert around Utopia. One type is an ointment which is made from crushing star shaped leaves together with the seeds of the plant and then mixed with animal fats and applied by Aboriginals topically on sores. Another has medicinal properties in its roots which can be dug up by the Aboriginal people and drunk straight from the root to cure sore throats.
