Soakages (small waterholes) dot the land around Utopia where our artists mainly live. Although now the soakages are dry and used up the older artists can remember a time when they were full of water. With their intimate knowledge of the land the Aboriginal people knew how and where to find the soakages in the harsh desert environment.
